We highly suggest submitting all artwork via e-mail as vector files with all text converted to curves or outlines, the document color mode set to CMYK, and all colors called out as PANTONE® PMS® colors from the solid coated swatch palette.
When unable to send vector art, a resolution of at least 300dpi is suggested for all GIF's, JPEG's, and TIFF's [non-vector formats]. Files should be PC compatible and submitted to the correct e-mail address.
We are a PC based company as opposed to Mac based. This means files submitted should be PC compatible. We can accept certain files generated on a Macintosh: AI, EPS, GIF, JPEG, and PDF. TIFF files will need to have their "Byte Order" changed to PC.
Preferred File Formats
- .AI - Adobe® Illustrator® [we prefer files saved to version CS]
- .CDR - CorelDRAW® [any version]
- .EPS - Encapsulated Post Script
Note: Artwork created in another program and merely saved as one of these file extensions does not guarantee acceptable artwork [e.g. a JPEG saved in Illustrator® as an "AI" file does not make it a vector file or a preferred file by SnugZusa®!].
Acceptable File Formats
- Camera Ready Art [see Camera-Ready Art below]
- .JPEG - Joint Photographic Experts Group
- .GIF - Graphic Interchange Format
- .PDF - Portable Document Format
- .PSD – Photoshop Document [we prefer files saved to version CS]
- .TIFF - Tagged Image Format File [must be saved with its Byte Order as "PC"]
Note: These formats will NOT always be acceptable depending on the product being ordered and the quality of the submitted file.
Submitting Art
SnugZ encourages art files and a purchase order be sent to us via e-mail. Depending on the products being ordered [1/3/5 day or other] will determine which e-mail address to send the art to. SnugZ cannot guarantee 1/3/5 day product orders if they are not sent to the correct e-mail address. There is no need to submit your purchase order separately from your art file.
To submit files via E-mail:
All rush orders for 1/3/5 day rush products must have art sent to a special address with the corresponding purchase order number in the subject line of the e-mail.
All other orders other than 1/3/5 day products must have art sent to the other correct address with the corresponding purchase order number in the subject line of the e-mail.
The e-mail addresses have been left out on purpose. Contact your SnugZ representative if you are uncertain where to send your art to.
To submit files via post:
Please send all camera-ready art [see requirements below] and media disks to our office in Salt Lake City. The address has been left out on purpose. Contact your SnugZ representative if you are uncertain where to send your art to.
If files are not e-mailed or sent as camera ready they can be submitted on a CD-R, DVD-R, 3.5" floppy disk, Zip 100 disk, formatted IBM®. Submit a separate disk for each order. Do not gang art for more than one order on a single disk. Always include a laser hard-copy print of the artwork. See acceptable file formats above.
Camera-Ready Art
Camera-Ready Artwork Is:
"Camera-ready art" is a term that differs between companies. For SnugZ, camera-ready art is flat, sharp, black-and-white line art (graphics and text) that is on smooth paper. Artwork submitted as camera-ready must be able to be scanned into Adobe® Photoshop® and then "Live Traced" in Adobe® Illustrator® without any additional work by a graphic artist. Additional work includes art that has to be retraced, redrawn or reworked on the computer by a graphic artist in any way.
If artwork does not meet required camera-ready specifications, an art preparation fee of $51.00 [Q] per hour will be required with a one-hour minimum. SnugZusa® will notify customer if artwork does not meet required camera-ready specifications before cleaning any art.
To increase perceived resolution it is a good idea to submit your camera-ready artwork at least double the size of the final imprint up to 8.5" x 11". Please do not exceed letter size paper as this is our maximum scannable area.
Camera-Ready Art Is Not:
Artwork that does not meet the required camera-ready art specifications listed above will be considered NOT camera-ready and will require an art preparation fee of $51.00 [Q] per hour. These items include, but are not limited to: inkjet and laser art that is of poor resolution, fax copies, photocopies, newspaper art, business cards, letterhead, continuous tone images [photography], printed products, and artwork on damaged or dirty paper.
Art Charges
- Paper Proofs: Free [up to two, all others $10.00 (Z)]
- Light touch-up: Free
- Typeset only: Included in setup
- Typeset copy added to camera-ready artwork: Included in setup
- Preparation of non-camera-ready art: $51.00 [Q] per hr. with 1 hr. minimum.
Note: please specify font to be used for all typesets.
Proofs
A paper proof (either fax or e-mail, whichever is requested) is always provided free of charge. If there are changes that need to be made and another proof is required, SnugZ will happily provide another proof with those changes. Additional changes that require another proof will cost $10.00 [Z]. See "Art Charges" above.
SnugZ paper proofs are not photographic representations of what the submitted art will look like on the product. They are to scale, vector illustrations of the product being ordered with the imprint applied. SnugZ does not provide proofs with the logo simulated on a photograph of the product. Please view our catalog for product imprint representations.
1/3/5 day products, dye-sublimated and Z Collection proofs will be provided in color (e-mail only). All other product proofs will be in black and white.
File Retention
Artwork is retained in our files for a two-year period from the date of the last order. After that time, new artwork will be required. Camera-ready art and media disks will be discarded after 30 days unless you have indicated on the purchase order that you would like the disk returned.
Trademarks
All copy or other materials submitted by customers for our use in producing items ordered will be accepted as fully compliant with all applicable laws regarding trademark, service mark, copyright, right of privacy, patent, or similar protection.
